The sales team at our Fairfax Ford dealership has always loved the Ford Explorer. The SUV, however, hasn't experienced any major upgrades like many other new Ford models have in the last few years, until now. For the 2013 model year, Ford decided to give the Explorer the performance facelift that it deserves by introducing the 2013 Ford Explorer Sport.
This new trim of the Explorer received new interior upgrades along with many new engine enhancements.
Upgrades Under the Hood:
Twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine
22 miles per gallon highway
350 horsepower
Four-wheel drive with Terrain Management System
Paddle-shifted six-speed SelectShift Automatic transmission with a unique
3.16 to 1 final drive ratio
Interior Upgrades:
MyFord Touch driver connect system
Sony Premium Audio System with 12 speakers
Heated first-row seats
Rear view camera
110-volt outlet
Dual-panel moonroof
Let's not forget power and towing capacity, either. As we mentioned before, the 2013 Ford Explorer Sport revs up to 350 horsepower. In addition to that, the SUV also has 5,000 pounds of towing capacity. Quite impressive for a sport trim with top of the line fuel economy numbers.
